How to organize your goals

Is it hard to stay focused on what you love? Does it seem like your attention is everywhere but where it needs to be? Everyday there are things purposely taking your focus away. This can make you feel so many emotions and make focus seem harder. The amount of things that keep you unfocused are growing and you can only choose what to focus on. You want to be better and make changes for yourself that can align your vision. First, understand distraction and how it affects your own life. Distraction is a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. Focus is the center of interest or activity.

   The wonderful thing about life is we can decide what works for us through a little bit of breathing and critical thinking. You will learn how to find your distractions, utilize them, and what your priorities are.

Focus

   Take out a sheet of paper or open up a new word document on your computer. Let's take a deep breath and clear your mind for 10 minutes. Once complete, think about what waste your time and write them down in a column. Start another column, then write down what you think can be useful but you use to waste time. Make a third column and write down what can help you be focused. The waste column sometimes can be good because if some of the items in that column are for self-care then keep them. The second column is most important because learning how to use tools properly will teach you how to master the third column. 

Focus starts with knowing who you are and how to make use of your special gifts.

The third column are your priorities which will help you stay focused and in flow. Decide what are not useful from the three columns because you can draw a line through them now. Less is more in this case and having too many priorities can be a distraction. If you are satisfied with your list then flip over your sheet of paper and start a new list.

A year is a long time but if you have a hard time completing goals then you should start small. Think about completing goals like lifting weights. If you do too much all at once you can hurt yourself which can make it harder to get strong again. The same goes for having too many hard goals. So when you make this list be very realistic with yourself. Write down from the columns on the other side of the paper what are your priorities for a time frame of your choice. I recommend 1 a day, 3 a month, and 10 a year. Now you know what to focus on and you should make copies of this list. Place them where you are always at in your home and your car if you have one.
